Water Hydrants
Ever have a water hydrant freeze up on you? If not, believe us- it isn’t an enjoyable experience. Plus, it isn’t much fun hauling water from another source, which usually is your house all the way to the barn or where water is needed.
We install premium frost-free hydrants that are dependable year after year. We typically install Iowa Hydrant Model y34. We have found them to be good quality at an affordable price.
Depending on the soil conditions, our typical installation consists of digging 7 feet below grade, where we surround the shut off/drain valve with ¾” rock. On top of this, we place a soil separation fabric. This product keeps the fine granules of dirt from sifting into the rock and prevents plugging – and freezing.
